If you’re reading this, congratulations! You clicked a link suggested to you by a total stranger on the Internet. NEVER DO THAT! The Internet is full of anonymous hack0rz and people who will steal your credit card information and fill you computer with some sort of cyber-virus, all with the promise of a hilarious cat video at the end of a link.
Though, I didn’t do that. I’m not smart enough to do that.
No, you probably clicked it because you’ve followed my career, and care enough about what I have to say to read about it. That sentence is still a weird thing to write, and completely humbling. Total strangers that I’ll never meet in person care about my work and me; that’s amazing. Thank you all for that. (Except for you, 70% of YouTube commenters. You go enjoy your flaming pile of garbage guarded by rabies possums. I’ll be hanging out with the positive people.)
I had previously written an overwrought and thoughtful piece on my love for the entertainment business, and owning your own creativity. But after showing it to peers and loved ones, they all agreed that it could have simply been summed up as, “I’ve left Rev3Games and Discovery Digital Networks behind, and it’s time to find something new.”
And that’s exactly what I’ve done.
When my former co-workers Max Scoville, Adam Sessler, and Anthony Carboni left to go find something more creative, the idea sounded dangerous, scary, and (most importantly of all) exciting.
I had an amazing time producing, writing, and hosting shows over there for the last year-and-a-half. Discovery gave me opportunities I thought I would never have, and let me make crazy, insane shows that nobody should have ever put on the air, But they did it, and I’ll never forget it.
As for what’s next -- who knows? Maybe I’ll end up hosting, producing, writing, editing, or being a community manager somewhere else again. Or maybe I’ll do something completely different. I’m in the driver's seat now. Let’s see where I end up!
In the meantime, I’ll still be on The Comedy Button every single week, and designing more merchandise for our newly relaunched store. (Related: Buy our stuff! I don’t have a paycheck anymore!) Plus, I’ll probably finally, FINALLY get around to editing the 50+ full episodes we have on video for our YouTube channel.
I love you all. Thank you for supporting me and following my weird brand of whatever it is I do. I hope you follow me wherever I go next, and I’ll try not to disappoint you in the future.
